RWTHmoodle offers a messaging system through which users of the platform can communicate with each other systemwide.

Similar to popular instant messaging services, the messaging in RWTHmoodle has a fully functional chat window in which the conversation is displayed in real-time. Users of the platform can search for each other, send messages and manage contacts - provided they have allowed this in their profile via opt-in. Messages can also be received as e-mails if one is offline.

For easier communication in group work scenarios, there is also group messaging. If managers have enabled this in a course room for the relevant groups, group members can communicate via the messaging system.
