Kurzinformation

The activity "Cardbox" follows a collaborative approach. Managers and students alike can create flashcards that are then available for students to practice.

The cardbox activity, therefore, offers both roles almost identical options and functionalities. Only the release and subsequent editing of flashcards is the exclusive responsibility of managers. The following explanations therefore always refer to both user perspectives, unless there is a separate restriction for managers.

  2. Question or prompt
  3. Solution
  4. "Save" and "Save and accept"
  5. Example of a finished card

Under the tab "Add a card" you will find a form for creating new flashcards. You can use texts, images and sound recordings and assign the card to a topic. After approval, the cards are generally available to all participants in the learning room.

1. Topic

Assign the new card to an existing topic or alternatively create a new topic.

Categorizing the flashcards by topic has several advantages:

  • Students can prioritize a topic in the exercise settings to study specifically for a topic, for example, to prepare for exams.
  • On the overview page, all shared cards can be displayed filtered by topic.

2. Question or prompt

Formulate the question that needs to be answered.

2.1. Show image options

Optionally add a picture. When you click this button, an "Question image" upload window opens. Use the Add file option to select the image you want or drag it into the upload field. Also, provide a description of the image for someone who cannot see it. This is recommended for accessibility reasons. If a description is not necessary, check the box next to the "This image is decorative only" option.

2.2. Show sound options

Optionally add an audio file. When you click this button, an "Question sound" upload window opens. Use the Add file option to select the audio recording you want or drag it into the upload field.

2.3. Show context

Optionally add a context line. When you click this button, a text input field "Additional information for this question" opens. The content entered there is displayed as a context line in the exercise mode together with the question. This context line is to be distinguished from the one that is displayed together with the solution (see below).

3. Solution

Enter the solution here. A card can have several solutions (see explanations below).

3.1. Add another solution

If you want to specify more than one solution, click on the "Add another solution" button. Another text field will open for the second solution answer. Add as many solution text fields as you need. These can be alternative solutions or partial solutions. The solutions are entered identically for both cases. In the following option "How many answers are necessary?" you specify whether the solutions are alternative solutions (for which only one solution must be named) or whether they are partial solutions for which all solutions must be named.

3.2. Show context

Optionally add a context line. When you click this button, a text input field "Additional information for the answer" opens. The content entered there is displayed as a context line in the exercise mode together with the solution. This context line is different from the one that is displayed together with the solution (see above).

3.3. How many answers are necessary?

If you have added several solutions to an answer via the "Add another solution" button, specify here whether these solutions are to be evaluated as alternative solutions or as partial solutions.

  • For alternative solutions, select the "One" option. Only one solution must be given in practice mode for the answer to be counted as correct.
  • For partial solutions, select the "All" option. All solutions must be given in practice mode for the answer to be counted as correct.

For our example, two solutions and one additional information have been stored. The current settings specify that both solutions must be entered. If required, "One" can also be selected here (see above).

4. "Save" and "Save and accept"

Click "Save" to save the map and place it in the "Review" tab. Here it must be confirmed by the managers and released for practice. This intermediate step serves the purpose of quality assurance.

"Save and acept" saves the map in the "Overview" tab and immediately releases it for practice. This option is only available to managers.

A finished card may look like the following example.
