Edit, delete or move questions to Quiz activity

In the StudentQuiz question overview, you will find a number of options to edit, delete, or move questions to the quiz activity's question collection. This way, you can reuse high-quality questions developed in StudentQuiz in a quiz activity without having to manually create them there again.

Questions that you move from here will disappear from the question collection. To avoid this, create a copy of the question in the StudentQuiz question bank and then move the copy.

You can also edit, delete or move questions in the StudentQuiz question bank. Moreover, you have more options to manage the questions there.

1. Edit questions

To edit a single question in the StudentQuiz, proceed as follows:

Access the student quiz on the course page to go to the question overview.
Click on the gear icon there for the appropriate question. You will then be taken directly to the editing page and can make the desired changes.

2. Delete questions

There are several ways to delete a question.

To delete a single question, click on the trash can icon behind the appropriate question in the question overview. Then confirm the security query by clicking on "Delete".
Alternatively, you can click on the status icon of the question in the status column. You will now be taken to a page where you can adjust the status.
Select the "Delete" status here in the drop-down menu. Confirm with "Change status". The question is then deleted without any further confirmation prompt!
To delete several questions, select the appropriate questions in the question overview via the checkboxes. Then click on "Delete" above or below the question table. Confirm the confirmation prompt by clicking on "Delete".
You can also make a status change as an alternative to deleting several questions at once. To do this, select the appropriate questions in the question overview using the checkboxes. Then click on "Change state" above or below the question table. You will now be taken to a page where you can adjust the status.
Select the "Delete" status here in the drop-down menu. Confirm with "Change state". The question is then deleted without any further confirmation prompt!

3. Move questions to another category

Managers can move questions created in the StudentQuiz to another question category of the question bank if needed. These can be either subcategory of the question collection to the existing StudentQuiz or categories associated with the quiz activity. This way, you can reuse high-quality questions developed in StudentQuiz in a quiz activity without having to manually create them there again.

If you move a question from the StudentQuiz question categories to the question bank for the quiz activity, it disappears from the StudentQuiz question overview and question bank. Therefore, it is better to first create a copy of the question using the "Duplicate" option in the question bank and then move the copy to the question bank for the quiz activity. The original question will then remain in its original place.

To move questions from the StudentQuiz to another question category, proceed as follows:

Select the desired question(s) in advance - if necessary by setting suitable filters - in the question overview.
Then open the drop-down list above the question overview to the right of the "Move to >>" entry and select the category to which you want to move the highlighted question(s).
Then click on the "Move to" button. The questions will be moved to the selected category.
If the new category is a subcategory of the StudentQuiz, nothing changes in the question bank. The moved question will only appear in the StudentQuiz question bank in the new category. However, if the new category belongs to the quiz activity, the question disappears from the question overview because it is moved to another activity context.

Note

If you want to move the question(s) for further use in a quiz activity, make sure to move them to a category that can be assigned to a quiz activity. These categories are identified below in the "Course: Course Room Name" section.
