Data subject information according to GDPR - transfer of personal data

Dear user,
This page provides information on the nature, scope, and purpose of data processing, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We would like to inform you that, when using MATLAB Simulink online, the following data will be transferred: your status; your RWTH e-mail-address (ending in @rwth-aachen.de); and a pseudonymized eduperson Target ID, which you have at RWTH Aachen University. No other data will be transferred from RWTH to MathWorks. The host ID, activation name, and operating system are also transmitted when you install Matlab on a PC. Any other personal data requested must be provided by you in order to use MATLAB, etc., and will not be transferred by RWTH. These are:
- Last name, first name (a pseudonym should be used)
- your physical location
- your job title
- older than 13 years (select yes/no)
- Department: selection options
- the name of the company; RWTH is given.

MATLAB is a programming and numerical computing platform used by millions of engineers and scientists to analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models. MATLAB provides an end-to-end development environment with a comprehensive set of sophisticated features and algorithms. MATLAB offers better and easier graphical analysis capabilities for displaying results. It has been used for many years at RWTH Aachen University for the purpose of teaching and research.
The status of the RWTH email address and the eduperson Target ID is transmitted.
According to Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. b GDPR the input of the login data is mandatory for the fulfillment of the contract.
(Note: The legal basis refers exclusively to the transmission for the purpose of license management).
The basis for the transmission of the SSO data is the DPA with the standard contractual clauses.
Categories of recipients of the personal data
Your personal data will be transferred to Mathworks, Inc. based in the USA.
Duration of storage
Your personal data will be stored for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or for as long as legal retention periods exist.
Data subject rights
You have the following rights regarding the processing of the status:
Pursuant to Article 15 et seq. DS-GVO the right to information about the personal data concerned, the right to rectification or deletion or to restriction of processing, a right to object to processing and the right to data portability. Also, pursuant to Article 77 of the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority (https://www.ldi.nrw.de/ if you consider that the processing of personal data concerning you infringes this Regulation.
