Creating JupyterLab Profiles

Creating JupyterLab Profiles

Users can at the moment only use JupyterLab Profiles installed by the ITC HPC Team. You can request a JupyterLab Profile via ticket to the IT-ServiceDesk.

This restriction is in place due to security vulnerabilities in old versions of JupyterLab and Jupyter Kernels.

Request

To add a JupyterLab Profile to the HPC JupyterHub please send an email to servicedesk@itc.rwth-aachen.de with the name of the JupyterLab Profile, default hardware settings and a list of conda+pip packages to install.

You can also ask to duplicate a specific existing Profile with custom modifications.

Requirements

For us to create a new Profile, a user must provide the following requirements in the email request:

  • Kernel(s) (Programming language)
  • Templates for one or multiple Jupyter Notebooks (Optional)
  • Required environment variables and modules to load (Optional)
  • Default hardware
  • Runtime and configuration requirements for Slurm (Optional)

An HPC administrator will then contact you to confirm and customize the request to produce a JupyterLab Profile.

The created Profile will be available to all users of the HPC system.
