License Agreement & Privacy

In order to use the free Adobe products and to distribute them within a company or organisation, a license agreement with Adobe must be in place. Such an agreement was made centrally for all institutions within the RWTH. However, we would like to point out that some Adobe products follow Adobe's personal data guidelines. Therefore, please read the following notes and corresponding pages before ordering Adobe products in the RWTH Software Shop.

According to the current agreement, the Adobe Reader DC can be ordered.

Product: Adobe Reader DC

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is a PDF Viewer. This software can be used for viewing, printing, and adding notes to pdf documents. It is also integrated in the Adobe Document Cloud , allowing users to access the software from mobile devices.

Notes on Distribution

What are the advantages of software distribution?

Software distribution describes processes for the installation of software on the machines of users within companies or organisations. Due to the fact that many users lack the proficiency and/or authorisation to install and update software themselves, this task is usually handled by qualified personnel in such organisations.

The goal of effective software distributing is the automatic installation, configuration, and maintenance of a large number of computers with minimal effort required, as well as assuring user and data security, and a workflow free of unnecessary disruptions.

What do you need to consider?

Adobe does not permit distribution of their software products without agreement to their „Privacy Guidelines“. Agreement to these terms gives Adobe the right to acquire a significant amount of personal data, as well as analysing and comparing that data and sending it to third parties.

You can find more information on the gathering of personal data in the Adobe notes on „Your privacy choices“. This link also provides an explanation on which instances of data collection you can control.
