What is the Oracle Campus License NRW?

This guide summarizes the most important information about the Oracle Campus License NRW at RWTH, including usage, license scope, and support.

RWTH Aachen University is a participant of the Oracle Campus License NRW. This is a federal contract with Oracle about the usage of certain Oracle software products.
The licensed products can be used to fulfil the university's tasks in the areas of research and teaching, university services and administration including all computer centres, in unlimited number. The clinics of the university hospital are not included.
License Information
Usage and Contract Conditions
The software is offered to the institutes on request and is not available in the software store. The contribution to the costs for the Oracle Campus NRW contract is made annually per institute. After purchase, you will receive the CSI number that you need for further use.
Please note that the contract was concluded by 20.05.2018. If you continue to use the software products beyond the end of the contract, this can lead to considerably higher license costs, which experience has shown to be 10 times higher than the cost sharing in the current federal contract.
Scope of the License
The following Oracle software products are part of the contract:
- Oracle Database Enterprise Edition (DB EE)
- Oracle Database Standard Edition (DB SE)
- Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
- Oracle Internet Application Server Enterprise Edition (iAS EE)
- Oracle Internet Application Server Standard Edition (iAS SE)
Additional options of the Database Enterprise Edition (e.g.. Partitioning, Diagnostic Pack, Multitenant etc.) are not included in the Campus License NRW.

Upgrades and Support
You can receive upgrades and support during the validity of the contract via the Oracle support page. The IT Center unlocks the access to this page.

The IT Center does not offer support for these products.
