FAQ - Wi-Fi at RWTH Aachen
Login credentials can only be used on one device. If the username and/or the password have been forgotten or compromised, new login credentials can be generated via the eduroam devicemanager. Therefore, it is not necessary to save the login data.

How did this content help you?
You cannot set your own RWTH eduroam login credentials because we want to prevent you from using fimiliar credentials.
The widespread and easily accessible information about the eduroam log-in procedure means that an "Evil-Twin" attack is possible. This means that an attacker (hacker) can set up a fake (evil) access point pretending to offer access to eduroam, and extract your eduroam login credentials. If you use your eduroam credentials (Login name and Password) for other RWTH IT-services (e.g. RWTHonline) and an attack is successful, all your accounts will be compromised. Smartphones and other mobile devices are particularly vulnerable as they constantly search for familiar Wi-Fi connections without asking the user for permission.
To mitigate the harm caused by a compromised eduroam account, we enforcing the use of distinct login credentials for each device.
If your eduroam login credentials have been compromised, or if you have forgotten your login name and/or password, you can generate new login credentials for the affected device via the eduroam devicemanager. Any compromised or forgotten device must be deleted from your eduroam devicemanager.

- Install a profile for eduroam. Manuals for doing this are available for iOS and macOS devices.
- If the Wi-Fi login dialogue appears after your device briefly loses its connection, cancel the connection attempt without re-entering your login credentials. In many cases, your device will automatically reconnect to the network after a few seconds.
- If you share your Wi-Fi credentials with other devices via the Apple's iCloud Keychain, all of your devices will use the same identifier. Please delete all your eduroam credentials and create a new set to use with all your Apple devices. We generally recommend not sharing any login credentials with third parties.

How did this content help you?
When using multiple eduroam identifiers, Apple keychain prevents from connecting to eduroam.
If you own multiple Apple devices, you must delete the eduroam login credentials from each divice in the eduroam devicemanager.
Then create a new set of eduroam login credentials and use them to connect all Apple devices to eduroam.

How did this content help you?
This is a bug that can be resolved by taking one of the following steps:
- Reset the saved login credentials on your device by using the "i" icon next to the network and selecting "Forget network". Reselect the network in the Wi-Fi menu, you will be asked for your login information.
- Delete your eduroam profile on your iOS device. This profile might contain incorrect login information. To delete your profile navigating to "Settings" → "General" → "VPN & Device Management". Select the eduroam profile and then "Remove profile". After the profile was removed, connect to eduroam and enter your log in information or install a new profile.
The same process can be used for macOS devices. Search for "Profiles" in the settings and delete your eduroam profiles.
