Email Clients

This page describes which email clients we support and how they are configured when integrating them.

If you prefer not to use an email client, you can also access your RWTH emails directly in your browser using the RWTH MailApp.

Supported email clients

The following email clients are compatible with RWTH email accounts.

  • Outlook
    • For information security and data protection reasons, the following apps may not be used in the RWTH context:
      • the free Outlook apps for Windows 10 and 11
      • the Outlook apps on mobile devices (Android and iOS/macOS)
    • The following operating systems are no longer supported:
      • Windows 7
      • Windows 8.1
      • Windows Server 2012
      • Windows Server 2012R2
  • Thunderbird
  • Evolution
  • Android Mail app
  • Applemail
 

General configuration

You may be asked to provide the following information when setting up your selected email client.
Detailed instructions for supported email clients can be found under the Supported email clients links or via the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.

Please note the difference between your email address and your username, and enter only the information requested in the corresponding field.

For functional mailboxes for which you have been granted full access/send as permissions, the username is different. You can find the correct format for the username in the table below:

If the mailbox is integrated by a person who has been granted full access / send as permissions for the mailbox:

PasswortThe password you set for the respective RWTH email account in RWTH Selfservice.
