On this page, you can learn more about how to back up your files from OneDrive.

 

Please note:

A different storage method must be used for backing up OneNote notebooks. You will find instructions on the page Backing up OneNote-Notebooks.

To back up your data, follow these steps:

  1. Check how much storage space is occupied
  2. Back up your data

1. Check how much storage space is occupied

1. Log in to OneDrive with “something@students.rwth-aachen.de”.

3. Select OneDrive settings.

4. Select More settings.

5. Select Storage metrics.

6. Here you can now see the storage space you have used so far.

7. If the storage you are using is larger than expected, it is probably due to the versioning of individual files.

You can check this by clicking on the version history of the respective file.

8. Afterwards it is possible to delete all versions except for the current one using the Delete all versions button.

Now the storage consumption should be lower.

 

Please note:

It is not immediately displayed that less storage space is being used. This can take up to 24 hours.

2. Back up your data

1. Open the OneDrive Startpage.

2. Click on My files on the left-hand side.

3. Select all files, then click on Download.

4. Save the ZIP file on your computer.

 

Please note:

Only the latest versions from the version history will be downloaded. Older files from the version history will not be saved.
