FAQ - E-Mail-Mailinglists
There are various ways to unsubscribe from a mailing list:
- In principle, you can always unsubscribe from a mailing list by e-mail. At the end of a newsletter there is (not always) a note on how to do this. To do this, send an email to “<list name>-unsubscribe@lists.rwth-aachen.de” (i.e. golf-unsubscribe@lists.rwth-aachen.de for Golf) or “<list name>-leave@lists.rwth-aachen.de”. The subject/content does not matter, you must of course use the registered email address for sending. You will then receive an e-mail with a confirmation message. You can use this to complete your unsubscription by simply replying to the “confirm” message and leaving the subject intact.
- If you are registered on the mailing list system, you can also unsubscribe via the listinfo page: “https://lists.rwth-aachen.de/postorius/lists/<listname>.lists.rwth-aachen.de/”
- In certain cases, mailing lists have different rules, see: Why can't I de-register from certain automated mailing lists?

How did this content help you?
There are several automated mailing lists at RWTH Aachen University.
Most of these have the purpose of addressing a specific group of people, such as all RWTH employees, all students, students of a specific field of study, or people with assigned roles from the role administration.
The lists do ensure that relevant information in the respective context reaches all RWTH Persona concerned.
Since the lists are filled automatically, it is not possible to unsubscribe from these lists.

Summary Digests - Currently offers exactly the same functionality as MIME Digests.

- In principle, anyone can post to a mailing list.
This depends on the one hand on the mailing list setting and on the other hand on the user options.
The default setting for the mailing list can be found under “Settings” > “Message acceptance” > “Default action when a member/non-member sends to the list”.
The user settings under User options of the respective member/non-member.
- Whitelisting of non-members is possible by adding a user/email address to the non-members (if not already done automatically) and setting the moderation option to “Accept”.

The view of plain text digests is unwieldy and formatted in html.
If one of your users has selected message collection as a delivery option, this can lead to unwieldy and strangely formatted notifications for the user.
https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/issues/473Workaround: Switch to MIME Digest for the user. The user can also change this themselves in their account.
