FAQ - Virtual Serverhosting

• The IT center provides institutions of the RWTH Aachen University with the possibility of renting servers in the form of virtual machines. An IT-Shop login is required for ordering a VM.

• You can order your virtual machine (vm) directly via SeviRe.

• In SeviRe you have the possibility to individually set up or change the configuration of the vms you ordered, according to the current offer.

• You can reach your virtual machine (VM) via the vSpere Client or the vSphere Webclient. You can download the installation files for the suitable version of the vSphere Client directly from our vCenter Server. There you will also find a link for starting the vSphere Webclient.

  The following data are required for a login via the vSphere Client:

  • Server name: vc.rz.rwth-aachen.de
  • User name: <username (format: ab123456)>
  • Password: <your personal server hosting password>

• The following data are required for a login via the vSphere Webclient:

  • User name: <username (format: ab123456)>
  • Password: <your personal server hosting password>

• The server can only be reached from the RWTH networks.
