No, domains first have to be registered and thereby be unlocked on the central e-mail entry .
For this purpose you can find the product "Modul E-Mail-Routing" in the category "RWTH-E-Mail" in the IT-Shop. It can be obtained free of charge by the holder of the role IT-purchaser. If your institute does not have anyone who holds this role, e.g. student dorms, please contact the IT-ServiceDesk. By obtaining the product, your institute receives a filter configuration fitted to the delivering e-mail system. This facilitates a rate limiting of the central e-mail routing structures of RWTH Aachen University and protects them from abuse.
The central e-mail entry uses IP addresses from the IPv4 networks ranges 220.127.116.11/27 and 18.104.22.168/28 and IPv6 ranges 2a00:8a60:1:e501::/64 und2a00:8a60:1:e502::/64 for delivery to target systems. The institute's internal e-mail server and firewall must be configured to accept connections on port 25 from these network ranges.
The central e-mail entry saves the e-mails for at least three days and automatically informs the respective sender after 4 hours about the problem. Please contact us if it is foreseeable that your server will not work properly within three days. In this case we can adjust the saving period. If this adjustment is not made, the buffered e-mails are deleted as undeliverable after the time period and the sender is informed.
