Email routing

What is email routing?

Organization-owned email domains can be reachable worldwide via email routing, ensuring that the right emails are delivered to the right recipients.
Emails to email addresses that are not hosted on the central Exchange system are accepted by authorized RWTH servers and sent to the internet, or received from the internet and delivered to the subordinate mail systems.
The setup of mail domains and the associated MX records is carried out by the IT Center.

In addition, inbound and outbound email traffic is routed via RWTH’s central mail gateway, and inbound traffic is checked for viruses and spam.

Who can use email routing?

Organizations that belong to RWTH can apply for email routing for their respective email domains. Costs may apply.
Consulting, new orders, and changes to the configuration of existing email routings can be requested by email via the IT-ServiceDesk.

How can you use email routing?

To use email routing, the role Verwaltung RWTH-E-Mail-Routing (RWTH email routing Administration) is required.
The role is assigned by the organization’s role administration.
