Email Routing
Email routing is part of the functionalities provided by the RWTH E-Mail service.
Organization-owned mail domains can therefore be reached worldwide, ensuring that the right emails are routed to the right recipients.
Emails to addresses that are not hosted on the central Exchange system are accepted by authorized RWTH servers and sent to the Internet or accepted from the Internet and delivered to subordinate mail systems.
Mail domains and the associated MX records are set up by the IT Center.
In addition, incoming and outgoing mail traffic is routed via the RWTH's central mail gateway and incoming traffic is scanned for viruses and spam.
Who can use email routing?
Organizations belonging to RWTH can apply for email routing for the respective email domains. This may incur costs.
Advice, new setups, and configuration changes of existing email routing can be requested via email to the IT-ServiceDesk.
How do I access email routing functions?
The functions (e.g. creating and managing recipient verification) can be used after obtaining the role Verwaltung RWTH-E-Mail-Routing (RWTH-E-Mail-Routing administration).
The role is issued by the role administration of the respective organization. Assignment is only necessary if email routing services are used.
