Migration to Nextcloud
Due to the migration to Nexcloud, sciebo will be unavailable from August 12th to August 14th. Following the migration, the previous sciebo desktop client must be uninstalled from all devices and the new Nextcloud-client must be installed.
The Nextcloud client has new features, which are listed on the sciebo homepage.

The installation is carried out in 5 steps:
- Check synchronization
- Uninstall ownCloud-client
- Install Nextcloud-client
- Using Nextcloud-client
- Synchronization settings
If the synchronization does not work, please note the workaround.
1. Check synchronization
Before the migration, make sure that all data is fully synchronized on all devices.
Step 1
Open sciebo in the desktop client.
Step 2
Click Account.
Step 3
Check that the synchronization was successful. A green check mark means that everything has been fully synchronized.
If some data has not been synchronized, click Activity. There, you can see which data is saved locally and which is saved on the sciebo servers.
Please note
The contents of project boxes should also be checked before the migration to make sure that everything is synchronized and that the contents of the box are saved locally.
2. Uninstall ownCloud-client
Step 1
Close all files stored in sciebo.
Step 2
Uninstall ownCloud from your device.
Step 3
You may need to restart your device.
3. Install Nextcloud-client
Step 1
Go to the download page on the sciebo homepage.
Step 2
Under "Desktop (Nextcloud-client)", select your operating system, then click Download.
Step 3
Double-click the file to open it, then follow your device's instructions.
Step 4
You may need to restart your device.
4. Using Nextcloud-client
Step 1
Start Nextcloud-client.
Step 2
Click Open Browser to connect your sciebo account to the desktop client.
Step 3
Login with your sciebo login credentials.
Step 4
Click Allow to grant the desktop client access to your sciebo account.
5. Synchronization settings
As with the ownCloud-client, you must set up the synchronization settings for your folders again. The files and folders are then synchronized locally from the cloud.
Please note:
Depending on the amount of data, this process can take anywhere from a few seconds to several hours.
Workaround, wenn die Synchronisation nicht funktioniert
Reinstall Nextcloud-client and create a new synchronization folder. Do not use the previous Sciebo folder.
There may be hidden files in the old folder that could cause problems when accessed by the new client.
