The document editors (Collabora & OnlyOffice) are an additional feature of sciebo. The document editors allow users to work on Office documents simultaneously via a web interface.
Documents always open automatically with the Collabora editor.

Simultaneous editing of documents is only possible if the users belong to the same sciebo instance. For example, collaborative editing works between two sciebo users from RWTH Aachen, but not between an RWTH Aachen user and a user from another university or a sciebo guest.
If documents are to be edited collaboratively, it is essential that users coordinate in advance which of the two online editors will be used.
The reason for this is that communication between the two servers, Collabora and OnlyOffice, is not possible.

Below you will find instructions on how to set which editor to use to open a file:

Access with Collabora

1. Click on + New.
2. Select the document type and assign a file name.
3. The file opens in Collabora.

Access with OnlyOffice

1. Click on the three dots to the right of the document you want to edit.
2. Click on Open in ONLYOFFICE.
3. The file opens.
