Object and purpose of the processing of personal data
RWTH Aachen University supports researchers in all aspects of research data management and related areas (data literacy, high-performance computing, etc.) with the central research data management team (consisting of employees from the IT Centre and the University Library).
The data listed below is collected for the purpose of documenting consultations in order to identify contact persons from institutes, projects, etc. and to provide information on RDM topics.

- Surname
- First name
- E-mail address
- Telephone number
- Personal ID from RWTHcontacts

The central team for research data management consists of people from the following institutions:

- University Library of RWTH Aachen University
Legal basis
The processing of employee master data (including name, email address) is carried out as part of their official duties in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 S.1 lit. e), Para. 3 GDPR in conjunction with. § SECTION 18 DSG NRW.
Data deletion and storage duration
Your personal data will be stored for a period of up to 10 years. After this period, your personal data will be anonymized so that it can no longer be traced back to you.
The retention period for personal data is in accordance with the directive on the retention, segregation, archiving and destruction of files and documents.
Rights of the data subject
If personal data is processed by the data subject, he/she has the following rights vis-à-vis the controller.
Pursuant to Article 15 et seq. GDPR, the data subject has the right of access to the personal data concerned, the right to rectification or erasure or restriction of processing, the right to object to processing and the right to data portability. In accordance with Article 77 GDPR, he/she also has the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority (https://www.ldi.nrw.de/) if the data subject is of the opinion that the processing of personal data concerning him/her violates this regulation. If the processing is based on the consent of the data subject (see Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a, Art. 9 para. 2 lit. a GDPR), he/she also has the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal; this will only take effect for the future.
