Uninstalling Sophos Secure Endpoint
Please note
This page describes the procedure for uninstalling Sophos Endpoint from a client. In principle, you can uninstall Sophos manually via the graphical user interface, but the process can also be automated.
The following steps are necessary for uninstallation:
If you want to uninstall Sophos from a Windows or MAC device, you must first determine the password for tamper protection for the corresponding device, or disable the feature. If you want to automate the uninstallation of Sophos, e.g. via software distribution, you can also disable tamper protection globally instead of configuring it for each individual device. If you deactivate this option, please note that it may take some time for the clients to adopt this configuration change.
Deactivate tamper protection (individual device):
- Log in to the Sophos Central Console
- Navigate to Devices → Computers and servers
- Find the relevant device from the list and click on the name of the device
- On the device's properties page, find the section Tamper protection. Here you can either switch off tamper protection or display the current password.
Deactivate tamper protection (globally):
- Log in to the Sophos Central Console: https://central.sophos.com
- Navigate to My products → General settings
- In the General section, click Tamper protection
- Deactivate the switch for tamper protection on the page and click Save in the top right-hand corner to apply the change.
Sophos can be uninstalled via the graphical user interface or via the command line. The steps to follow are described in this manual.
