FAQ - Software Asset Management

Client software is installed on the PC. There are clients for Windows, Linux, and macOS. This client automatically scans the computer at a specified interval and delivers the data to the central SAM server. This scan can also be performed manually and offline.

The scan on the computers collects hardware data and information about the software installed. Data that could reveal the identity of the main user, etc., is pseudonymized. The transfer of data is encrypted.

The data is stored on central servers in the IT Center.

The global license coordinator can view the data. The global license manager is based in the IT Center. In the event of an audit, they are also authorized to prepare license reports and make them available to the university management. However, they also advise users of the software.

These computers require special arrangements.
