The Software Asset Management describes the central administration, control and optimization of softwaresupport and its licensing. The beginning of the Software Asset Management on the univerity landscape was in 2014. During the last years, the RWTH University and the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences got hold of the Software Asset Management-Tool 'MissMarple' and adjusted it to their respective needs. Of substantially importance is hereby the relation between commercial data of the sortware-shop with the Software Asset Management Tool. The motivation for the introduction of this process are especially the increased audits and plausibility checks of the software vendors regarding the royalty compliant useage of their software in universities. In this position, MissMarple supports the protection of the legal security as part of the software licensing.
