The IT Center offers the possibility of renting physical servers. The offer is an alternative to purchasing and operating your own server hardware.
The IT Center takes responsibility for the setup, maintenance and operation of the servers and the respective infrastructure at the locations of the IT Center and guarantees the availability of the resources provided with the service.

Who is allowed to access Physical Serverhosting?

Organizations listed at RWTH Aachen University can rent physical servers through the IT Center.
People with the role "Bestellung IT” (IT Ordering) can request servers for their respective organizations.

How do I access Physical Serverhosting?

The IT Center provides suitable user interfaces for the control of the vms (Power On / Power Off / Reset) and for the usage of installation media.
The interfaces can be used from any location within the IP-networks of RWTH.
The operating system of the vms has to be installed and operated by the tenant and can be chosen freely after consultation with the  IT Center.
The tenant has complete access to the operating system and is liable for all the software installed on the virtual machine (including the operating system).
