Access to another backup node

Detailinformation

If it is necessary to delete or restore data, that is not hosted at the regular backup node, please follow the steps below to access another backup node.

 

Windows

1. Create a new file (e.g. dsm_bas80.opt) in the same directory as ‘baclient’ (as a rule c:\programme\tivoli\tsm\baclient\). Enter the credentials for the backup server you want to access into the new file.

 

Example: dsm_bas80.opt

TCPSERVERADDRESS    bas80.itc.rwth-aachen.de   

TCPPORT             1580   

COMMMETHOD          tcpip

 

2. You can start the Spectrum Protect Client entering the following command:

dsm -virtualnodename=Knotenname -optfile=dsm_bas80.opt
 

Linux/UNIX

1. Enter the credentials for the backup server you want to access into the existing ‚dsm.sys‘-file.

 

Example: Server BAS80

SERVERNAME         bas80

TCPSERVERADDRESS   bas80.itc.rwth-aachen.de    

TCPPORT            1580    

COMMMETHOD         tcpip

 

2. You can start the Spectrum Protect Client entering the following command:

dsmj -server=bas80 -virtualnodename
