Detailinformation

What is the Campus Teilhabe?

The Campus Teilhabe is a variant for the allocation of financial resources for the federal contract with Microsoft. It is therefore a participation in the refinancing of the Microsoft licenses that RWTH Aachen University has procured for use in the service sector. The Campus Teilhabe itself is not a license. It entitles the holder to use the Microsoft licenses procured by RWTH Aachen University for business purposes in compliance with the contractual and licensing provisions of the federal contract.

What is the term of the federal contract 3.0?

The federal contract again has a term of four years and thus runs until April 30, 2025.

What changes does the license change for the Campus Teilhabe?

The price of the Campus Teilhabe will increase by approx. 30%. The purchase and use of the Campus Teilhabe itself will not change. It will remain device-related and can be purchased in the RWTH Software Shop.

What will the changeover do to the license model?

With the entry into force of the federal contract 3.0, the license model will be changed from device-based licenses to person-based licenses. As a result, each employee will have a license available through the Campus Teilhabe that entitles him or her to use it on a device he or she primarily uses.

How do I as IT administration license the employees from 01.05.2021? Do the IT administrations of the institutes and facilities have to actively do anything for the changeover? What happens to Campus Teilhabe/licenses that have already been purchased?

  • Existing licenses:

With the changeover to the new federal contract, Windows and Office licenses that were procured in the past via the Campus Teilhabe and activated via KMS can continue to be used.

  • New Licenses:

For new devices, a Campus Teilhabe can still be purchased from the RWTH Software Shop. A Windows basic license is also required for Windows PCs. Windows and Office will continue to be activated via the KMS.

How many installations are allowed?

Each employee is provided with a license via the Campus Teilhabe that entitles him/her to use Windows and Office on a device primarily used by him/her.
