Resource types

In Coscine you can choose from different resource types. You can create resources of various types in your project. Don't limit yourself to just one type of resource. Rather, you should choose the most appropriate type of resource for each situation.

Research Data Storage (FDS)

The research data store (FDS) is an object-based store for research data. You can create FDS resources with storage space for your research data as long as your project has sufficient storage quota.

Each project has a storage quota for FDS resources. If you have used this, you cannot create any more resources of this type until you have requested more storage. As a project owner, you can apply for additional storage quota.

The research data memory is provided exclusively by Coscine and is intended exclusively for use with research data.

GitLab is a web-based git repository manager and hosting service. Coscine integrates GitLab as an external data source and thus allows you to use GitLab as a host for your research data, your source code or measurement data.

In contrast to the research data store, which is natively provided by Coscine, you can store any kind of data in GitLab, as long as you do not violate the GitLab Terms of Use. This means that you can also store personal data or data that are not directly related to your research project in GitLab.

Please note that GitLab is not yet available in Coscine.
