Due to the integration of RWTHmoodle with the campus management system RWTHonline, different groups of people from the context of a course are automatically transferred to the corresponding course room in the role "manager".

The authorization as manager will work only if there's a CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization with the Identity Management (IdM) for the user account.

1. Lecturers and Assistants

The "Lecturers" and "Assistants" of a course in RWTHonline are automatically authorized with the role “Manager” in the corresponding course room in RWTHmoodle.

"Managers" can authorize additional persons in the course room choosing from various permission levels. These persons will need a CAMPUS-Office/Webservices account (e.g. ab123456).

The lecturers and assistants of a course in RWTHonline are automatically authorized with the role “Manager” in the corresponding course room in RWTHmoodle. Lecturers and assistants will be automatically authorized for the course room only if there's a CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization with the Identity Management (IdM) for the user account (e.g. ab123456). Without this connection RWTHmoodle lacks the information which account should be authorized.

It is possible to define additional lectures or assistants in RWTHonline after the course room has been created. These lecturers or assistants will be automatically authorized in the course room as "Managers" until the next day.

"Managers" who have been automatically added to the course room by their function as lecturers  or assistants can be deleted from the course room. In order to do so they need to be deleted as lecturers or assistants from the course in RWTHonline. They will disappear from the course room until the following day.

 

2. RWTHmoodle-Administration

On the level of the organisations, the function "RWTHmoodle-Administration" (homepage only accessible from the RWTH network; available only in German) can be assigned in RWTHonline. Persons with this function are authorized as "Managers" in all course rooms of the organisation. However, this automatic authorisation only works if there's a CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization with the Identity Management (IdM) for the user account. Without this connection RWTHmoodle lacks the information which account should be authorized.

This function can be revoked. The affected users will be deleted from all course rooms to which they had been authorised via the function until the following day.

 

3. CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization with the Identity Management (IdM)

Wether a CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization exists, can be checked in the Selfservice of the RWTH Aachen by following these steps:

  1. Login to the Selfservice with your username (e.g. ab123456) and your central password
  2. Go to the tab "RWTH Data".
  3. If a CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization exists, a blue rectangle will show up next to "CAMPUS entries".

If you do not have a CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization, but an already existing entry in the CAMPUS Organization Directory, please contact the IT-ServiceDesk (servicedesk@itc.rwth-aachen.de).

If you do not yet have an entry in the CAMPUS Organization Directory, please contact your organizational unit (chair, institute, or similar). They can create an entry for you. The CAMPUS Personal Data Synchronization will be automatically created within four days.
