Basic Information on the TSM Client Software
- Starting with TSM Client v6.3 a 64-bit system is required for Linux.
- Only SLES and RHEL as Linux platforms are officially supported by IBM. More detailed information can be found on the IBM website (see TSM Linux client "best effort" supported distributions, IT Center TSM Terms of Use).
- Not all file system types are supported under Linux/Unix, more detailed information can be found on the IBM pages (see IBM TSM file system and ACL support).
The following client versions, system environments and combinations of server versions and client versions provide the support available from the IT Center:
- Version less than 8.1.2 or 7.1.8 are no longer supported.
The installation of the TSM client must be executed with administrator rights (Windows) resp. root rights (Unix).
Operating systems and architectures that are not supported (anymore)
- Novell Netware
- Windows IA64
- Windows 95/98
- Windows NT/ME
- Irix
